Another Obstacle

Hi again DXers,

We thought that by now, KTWR would have been broadcasting its full schedule. The emphasis had been on repairing antennas. We have four of them repaired, so we have enough for airing all programs. However, TX6 developed an unusual tuning fault while sitting unused for three weeks. Because of this problem, we cannot air most of our DRM programs. The only ones we can currently cover are the Sunday 15390/13670kHz shots to South Asia. (Yes, the 15205kHz block will change frequency to 13670kHz, effective 2 July.)

One bit of good news is that we will change the time of our Tues-F 15390kHz broadcast from 1515-1545UTC to 1600-1630UTC. This change will be effective 28 June.

We are sorry for this situation. We will let you know when the ailing transmitter is ready for us to broadcast all DRM programs again.

KTWR Back to Full DRM Schedule (Updated)

Hi again,

The team on Guam has been working hard in some tough circumstances to get KTWR's antennas back in working order. It was very slow and difficult work until a boom lift became available to speed access to some of the breaks. Some repairs must still be done with the boson's chair to get ANT3 repaired. This chair work was also required to get ANT2A repaired last week. Antennas 4 and 5 were repaired using the boom in far less time.

As you can see below, ANT1 suffered quite a bit of damage. That antenna will be replaced. We are very blessed that the towers came through the typhoon very well.

Now for the good news you need to know. KTWR will resume the 12040/9910kHz broadcasts this Saturday. Broadcasts on 15390/15205kHz that had been covered by another broadcaster will move back to KTWR after Sunday. The schedule will be as shown below:

TWR DRM Return to the Air

Hi everyone,

Most of you know that Typhoon Mawar damaged KTWR's antennas to the point that no broadcasts have gone out from that station for the past two weeks. Several factors have made it very difficult for the team on Guam to get the antennas back in operable condition. We are sorry that is has taken so long to resume broadcasting from this site.

In the meantime, TWR has been working diligently to find other broadcasters who can air our programs during KTWR's downtime. As of the time of writing this note, ~50% of the KTWR programs have been covered by other transmitter sites. This includes some of our DRM broadcasts.

As of Tuesday, 6 June, the following DRM broadcasts will resume. They will be transmitted from Tashkent.

Frequency (kHz)       Day      Time (UTC)     Coverage Area

15390                        Tu-F      1515-1545       South Asia

15390                        Su          1500-1545      South Asia

15205                        Su          1600-1630      South Asia

We will keep you posted on the progress in getting the rest of the DRM broadcasts back on the air.

73 and may the Lord bless you.
